Threatened Species Plans (RECOGE)
In Chile, the national action plan (RECOGE) is led by the Ministry of the Environment to contribute to the conservation of the country’s native fauna and towards a sustainable development by improving the conservation status of the native species through coordination with different federal agencies, civil society, communities, academia and the private sector.
Oikonos participates in the creation of several RECOGE projects: we led the Pink-footed Shearwater (Ardenna creatopus) Plan, the first of its kind for a seabird, which is also part of the development group for the Stormy Petrel and Juan Fernandez terrestrial birds plan. In addition, we are currently part of “Comité de Planes del Ministerio de Medio Ambiente”, a plan in which RECOGE projects are prioritized and analyzed prior to their evaluation by the Council of Ministers.
