Signals of Spring - Albatross teach
science and math to students nationally
Black-footed Albatross data from Oikonos'
research will be used in Signals
of Spring education program. By using telemetry and remote sensing
data, middle and high-school students will investigate the migratory
behavior of the albatrosses, learn why Cordell Bank is an important
destination for this migratory species, and analyze how ocean systems
and human activities (e.g., plastics, different fishing practices) affect
these migratory seabirds. Milestone - Planting Completed on Año
Nuevo Island, California
With funding from the Coastal Conservancy and Go Native, the second
planting phase to stabilize seabird breeding habitat on the island is
completed. Future work will focus on documenting plant community changes
and studying how the island wildlife responds. Thank you to the amazing volunteers and crew !
