Black-footed Albatross data from Oikonos'
research will be used in Signals
of Spring education program. By using telemetry and remote sensing
data, middle and high-school students will investigate the migratory
behavior of the albatrosses, learn why Cordell Bank is an important
destination for this migratory species, and analyze how ocean systems
and human activities (e.g., plastics, different fishing practices) affect
these migratory seabirds. Follow the "Endless
Summer" birds across the Pacific
Sooty Shearwaters are the endless summer birds,
migrating between southern hemisphere nesting areas, where they are
called Tïtï, and northern hemisphere feeding grounds in California.
